A Previous Story Revisited And Extended:
Oft times, after doing something stupid when he was alone, one man would curse himself aloud, using all manner of crude epitaphs. Then one day unexpectedly responded, audibly: “If I was there now, you wouldn’t talk to me like that!” And after a second realized and said, “If you had been here, I wouldn’t have done what I did, and had to say what I said.”
Father advised son afresh: “Don’t say, ‘sleep.’ Think of it as: ‘The-stupor-of-self-absorption-through-thought,’ or, ‘The-daze-and-dullness-brought-on-by-staring-at-thoughts-about-oneself.’”
Men do not lie to themselves. Thoughts lie to men, and they are either: (a) too dumb to realize it, or (b) forced, for some reason, to act as though they don’t.
People who, through their advice/instruction, try to help others – do nothing, while those who do nothing actually help others. (“Quite surprising, that there is no end to what you can UN learn.”)
At the post-graduation senior class party, it turns out that all talk about the “waking up/achieving enlightenment thing” is nothing but talk about talking. (“Who’d a thunk it?!?”)
