Everything man has accomplished has been through combining; the progress of man is based on a special kind of chemical working. His uniqueness is not in his opposing thumb, his tool making, or even his cerebral cortex, but in his use of them in combining.
Same as other animals, man cannot create new matter, but unlike them he does not simply take the matter as he finds it. He puts it together in new combinations that produce results not otherwise available. Did not man continually do this, life as now lived would not be possible.
Man: Thy most distinctive name be – Combiner.
Through chemistry, different physical things can be put together and they will hold. What mind puts together, being composed of naught but words and concepts, will not hold, but will come apart as easily as it was put together.
Some random examples of this verbal/conceptual, combining and re-combining:
“There is life after death,” followed by;
“There is no life after death,” or:
“I have decided to love my enemies,” countered by:
“Screw my enemies,” or:
”Beliefs different from mine have their own honor,” reconstructed as:
“Beliefs different from mine are insane.”
Words puteth together and soothe;
words teareth apart & disrupt.
