Civilized/verbal life is a life of pretend, and the few who do not enjoy the forced game are doomed to live a life struggling there against…and pretending it is serious business…or else learning to simply lean back and enjoy the struggle.
To a fully opened eye there are no such things
as optimism and pessimism.
They are but symptoms of a sight disorder.
The father told the son a story about a group of mystical teachers, at a metaphysical fair, who were each given a stage from which to hawk their particular path to enlightenment. Once they all had gotten well underway in their exhortations, one was found to have attracted almost everyone to his area as he shouted out nothing but: “Porno! Porno!” Then the elder asked the younger, “And what doesn’t that tell you about everything?!”
There is so little to do in life that talk now pushes for center stage, and has taken on a previously absent across-the-board significance in the lives of everyday people. From one view, you should not look upon wanting to awaken as a desire to flee the dream you find yourself in, but rather realize that it was in the dream where you learned of the idea of awaking. Thus a warden can turn out to be an instructor of freedom.
