Yellow Circuit Must Foolishly Take Credit for Red and Blue
The following recordings are from Jan’s final years, when his voice was diminished and he spoke in a low whisper. Some listeners may find these tapes hard to listen to, or difficult to understand. Thus, as another option, transcripts are being made and will be posted.
Otherwise, turn up the volume and enjoy! Those who carefully listened to Jan during this period consider that he spoke plainly and directly to the matter at hand, “pulling out all the stops,” as he understood that these were to be his last messages to his groups, and to posterity.

Humans are the only animals that fool themselves, i.e., are self-delusional. This phenomenon is accepted as an unavoidable adjunct to civilized life. To “tell what kind of guy you are” is telling a fairy tale; one we don’t believe, because at heart we know we can’t change and aren’t responsible for our temperament. But the yellow circuit must take credit for the blue and red: fool itself. (41:05) #3229

The Record Of What Normally Goes By Too Fast To Register
NOVEMBER 26, 2004 © 2004: JAN COX
Poised to mash the ants he found in his kitchen, a man paused and pondered:
“All creatures are irrepressibly driven to go where there is food” –
he then walked into his study –
glanced at his mind –
then at the books lining the wall and reflected further on the matter.
A father said to a son:
“The best feature of the Enlightenment Academy’s Awards Presentation
is that the winners do not drive you crazy thanking all those who made it possible.”
“What really goes on at those kinds of affairs, Pop?”
“Well, if they actually had one it would likely consist mostly of hanging out, drinking, and listening to music — then somebody’ld probably bring in a stripper –
followed by a cop (on whose back somebody’s sure to jump for a ride):
all in all just an open invitation for civilian unpleasantness.”
“Of course we’re just talking about if there was such an assemblage?!”
“Son, you’re old enough now to understand that it is always a matter of:
if-there-was-such a this or that thing.; allegory turns into reality;
hard affairs morph to metaphor; what’s inside men is what they see,
and what they feel is what they think; it all comes together; how can it not.”
When ordinary minds quote or comment on something someone they admire has already said they feel like, well, you with real minds know what they feel.
“You forget at your own peril that the way it works is that first you want to
do something, and then your tongue expresses a reason therefor.”
“Peril of what?”
There’s only one true charity – anonymous.
(Same with waking up.)
Right before he says anything, one man prefaces with:
“Now this won’t be me talking –
it is and will be the brain in the head you see before you speaking…”
One man asked another who he took to be capable of comprehensively responding:
“Why don’t you admit it: the whole purpose of waking-up, achieving enlightenment,
and the like, is to learn The Big Secret – that’s the whole point,
so why not just admit it and be done with it?”
“Okay, consider it admitted.” Does everyone feel better now?
In Re Routine Public Propriety.
About life in the city, a mother advised a child:
“No consciousness – no conscience;
no consciousness – no chance.”
While his dog was momentarily out of the room,
one man had a private chat with himself:
“See here! – the sooner the better do you get firmly set in your mind the fact that every single thing men say about matters which have no physical substance
are all forms of ballroom show biz, wherein they are continually inviting one another, and large audiences to: dance with my ideas (whilst hopefully swooning at my handsomeness).
Lord Byron The Lab then stepped back into the room and the man discontinued

Immigration And Assimilation.
The ultimate melting pot IS man – (his consciousness, to be more precise).
Whenever this one guy takes what he considers to be a good gander at life,
he concludes by thinking: “I’ll be impressed later.”
A man standing on the corner mused:
“The conscious part of the brain is clearly in charge of paying attention —
but who is to pay attention to it?”
And another voice entered the proceedings:
“I didn’t know anyone was supposed to?!”
“I didn’t say anything about, supposed-to,
I simply want to know who can if you want someone to.”
One ole sorehead shares:
“If you hate somebody enough to tell ‘em that you hate ‘em,
you don’t really hate ‘em enough to be botherin’ with.”
The major difference between children and adults in the city is
the seriousness of their whining.
Another feature of being mentally out of step with collective man is that (as they call it): “The-age-in-which-we-live,” is not necessarily the age in which you live
at any given moment.
As a mother shooshed the children out of the house to play, she reminded:
“Don’t forget: brains just wanna have fun.”
(“That’s one way of putting it,” mused the Maytag by the door.)

About the only way a person capable of actual originality can get work in the city
is for their talent to be at least slightly misconstrued.

Dialogue overheard in a rebel camp outside the city:
“What we need is a stripped down version of our approach.”
“But I though that’s what we are already using.”
“Then strip it down some more.”
The Creation Myth of one world says that soon after the local reality-cum-god produced his first creatures bearing consciousness, he told them The Big Secret –
but was so off put by their immediate clamoring for exposition & annotation there about that he wiped all memory of it from their minds.
When reality is pointed out and you still have to ask: “What does it mean?” –
it means you’re too dense to understand what it means.
