#1342 – 09/30/1994:
Notes by TK
Living a natural life involves no extraordinary demands just to survive. Man is the only creature on whom demands are made and only at intellectual level. All survival needs can be satisfied, all intellectual ones cannot. The distinguishing of unnatural living has no answer, therefore do all men continually answer it, criticize behavior as unnatural…which it is not.
The News
94097-1
Life told one guy who seemed interested: “You’ll have to pardon things for the moment, right now everything is sort of in-a-tangle — but don’t quote me on that.”
* *
The 3 o’clock session of the convention featured a speaker who made the remark:
“To be considered insightful in the city you’ve got to have an edge.”,
And someone in the audience asked: “By ‘edge’ you mean an advantage!?”,
And he replied: “Oh!, did I say edge!? — I meant, ‘edginess’.”
— (hey — give that man a standing ovulation!)
* *
Whenever this one man would be asked if he didn’t once do “This-or-that” particular thing
He’d always give the same smiling reply: “Oh, did I?”
* *
Whenever she’d suffered another, “Bad, mental date”, this one woman would think: “Your mind’ll drive you crazy, but it won’t drive you home.”
Yes — those with the”Ignition-potential” must provide them own transportation.

The notion of man having a sub-conscious mind,
Or of the underworld of his psyche being inhabited by cryptic spirits,
And enigmatic gods,
All accrue from the unnoted archetectural fact that
The tower of bable was the original foundation upon which all else is built,
In the city-of-man, all must have a home including, “Comments”.
94097-3
After hearing the human mind compared to a computer, one fellow banged himself on the side of his head, saying: “I understand the part regarding, ‘garbage in’, but my problem is that I can’t get the garbage out!”
94097-4
Fact: ass-kissers are always grinning, fact: life wants everyone to appear happy,
Fact: guess whose ass you gotta kiss around here to be happy!?
Whenever his fellow astronomers turned again to the question of locating) “New, extraordinary life”,
This one chap would refuse to look in the telescope for fear of
Finding it reflective.
94097-5
The ordinary runnings-of-the-mind are like a round-the-clock bus service — always in operation, but never actually taking you any where.
The mind runs on comment — an ignited man’s consciousness, on something else.

A potentially alert man thought:
“The factual, worst thing about living on earth is that
You forget you’re living here.”
…He could have said this about egypt, athens, shanghi, or your thinking.
* *
After forty years of not speaking to his children, one day the father called them and said:
“Look, we seemed to have gotten off on the wrong foot….”
* *
In private one day, one man thought to himself:
“This effort to be more conscious and awake is like trying to swim in oatmeal -plus the fact that you’re not drowning to begin with.”
Question: do you think you got as much out of this as you think he did? Answer: I don’t know — or either: we got off on the wrong foot,

To a younger arrival, who seemed full of fidget and irritation,
An older monk described the aspired-to experience as: “A real good shave.”
One unknown oral tradition says that buddha would have awakened sooner if everyone had shut up sooner.
Andj, further to the west is another unrecorded history that says: thinking of the promised land will not only keep you from going there, but also, won’t either —
They’re just two different things.
“Daddy, why don’t mystics have a newspaper?”
“That’s a pretty decent question, my boy — pretty, fairly decent.”
94097-7.
After hearing praises sung to man’s adaptibility,
Using such examples as how the previously sighted quickly adjust to being blind,
Or the ambulatory to being crippled,
One chap thought: “That all seems well and laudable,
But I am troubled over how easily also this applies to one’s consciousness.”
A viewer writes:
“My brother and I watch your show, and some times I am bothered by you not being specific enough in your comments, while she is not, then again at other times, our situation is reversed,
I wonder is it actually my brother and myself doeng this, or just me!?’
A certain father gave his son this electronics suggestion:
“When your mind is acting like a blender,
At least let consciousness act as a surge proptector.”
U.L. Warning: if at any given moment you’re not in a state of extended awareness at least be aware that you’re not.
94097-8
The (quote), “Natural” life of all creatures is one inwhich no extraordinary demands are made of them —
In this single respect is man engaged in an un-natural existance.
94097-9
In response to a question from a student, the professor gave this reply: “No need to concern youself over the matter of, ‘original thinking’ until you first learn how to think.”,
And a voice countered: “But by then, is it not too late!?”
Someone once decribed a mystic as a guy at the track attempting to
Cash in his ticket on the fourth race even before the first one is finished.
94097-10
After hearing a speaker present his description of man’s sub=conscious psyche, and methods to re-arrange and program it, a kid asked his father:
“What say ye, old man, concerning this, in toto?”, and the elder replied: “’tis bullshit —
Unless one tries it and it works —
Then it is what he said it was.”
94097-11
For a full man, there is but one I acceptable -the calm eye in the center of a hurricane,
94097-12
One of the singularities of man’s, world that so befuddles ordinary minds is that: nothing ever works perfectly, or is totally efficient, but rather works better, and becomes more efficient.
Progress, thy name is “Continual”, & “Never-completed” — what else could it be?
94097-13
While on a major hike one day, a man paused and thought:
“Without words, there are no comments —
And without comments, there is no distortion —
And without distortion we’d have no need for words to describe this situation
Of man’s that is less than clear and distinct,” –
And right then an eagle flew up and asked:
“Did you just see an egg go by here, or is it behind me?”
And lo —
In the mid of his journey a man reached a place wherein he stopped for a moment,
And said aloud: “Easy does it now.”,
In response towhich life said:
“Are you still struggling to awaken,
Or are you now trying to fuck me?”
Moral: the way of the mystic is not easy — but, god! It’s fun!
