THE MIGHTY CLOUDS & MUSCATEL MINUS TWO
________________________________

Words are slaves of the past
which is why a few people want to doTheThing —
and also why most never succeed.
Consciousness additional value to man is in its
instantly malleable memory capacity;
all of the body has memory at the cellular level;
throughout a man’s life the immune system is engaged in
a continuing process of adapting its defenses to new intrusions by
calling upon its memory,
but neither it nor any other corner of mans physique can
make immediate adaptations as can the brains
talking consciousness, nor can the flesh of one man transfer
useful cellular information to another — only words can do that,
words with great memories; sounds tied firmly to the past.
Every time you speak — even of tomorrow
your words depend on the past;
they are dependent on your brain remembering what vocal sounds represent what material realities, and those hearing your
words are likewise dependent on their brains consciousness
translating the sounds into a picture in their mind that reasonably resembles the one in your mind that motivated the words.
Simply, but fully adequately & accurately put:
no constant memory of the past — no meaningful words.
Even alone, the conversation only in your head;
you, speaker & listener both — and the topic in the future:
next week’s dental appointment;
all of the fearful scenes being showed & talked about
in your head — set days in the future —
could not exist without your verbal memory of the past;
your total concept of this upcoming physical event
is comprised entirely of jury rigged, ad hoc memories
from a multitude of forgotten sources, such as:
other peoples descriptions, movies, books, etc.
The primary purpose of words is survival enhancement:
with them, a man who discovered a new water hole could, through sounds tell others how to go there without having to physically lead them there;
and could describe a plant presently unknown to them,
that he had recently eaten which made him ill, and thus they
be armed with useful knowledge about a danger they had yet to physically confront.
Consciousness would be a waste of man’s time without words,
and words would be a waste of time without an
ever active memory of the past.
No plans for the future are possible without memory of the past;
all plans for the future are based entirely on the past;
this is how it naturally & normally is
and this is what makes a few people want to doTheThing,
and this is also what keeps most of the few from succeeding.
Soon after the new part of the brain began to produce
thoughts-&-words about mans physical environment
so as to make his existence therein more comfortable & lengthy,
older parts, (involved with emotions), took note,
and at the first opportunity when the machinery involved in
word-production was momentarily not in use,
they leaped in and appropriated it as pertinent to their interest,
which would result in a mans speech going from:
The new water hole is one days walk to the left of the red mountains
to: I am so sad — my mate died last year.
The newer, abstract-dealing, fact-wheeling part of the brain
might say: Here is how you make fire,
while the older, further down, farther back
emotional-recorder part of the brain might say:
Look at me: this is what depression is.
Verbal conveyance of practical information about living
is one use of words;
talking about how you feel about living is another separate one;
knowing how to create fire is valuable to anyone,
and verbally describing your emotions seems useful to most —
but not to all.
Words have enabled men to construct in their head
a non tangible, holographic picture of the physical reality
around them and to abstractly turn it about and imagine it first this way, and then that, and thus make practical plans for beneficial alterations of the environment without having to go through the less efficient process of physical trial & error —
that is one use of words;
but words have also constructed in mens heads a picture of a reality that never existed in the first place;
the minds ability to picture what the words mean regarding:
One days walk to the left of the red mountains
is not the same as the pictures that float in men’s minds
triggered by words strung together viz:
I am the type of man who does not suffer fools gladly,
(or: Justice will prevail after death & the day of judgment).
When words talk about wood & wheat, they mean something;
when they talk about you & other people, they have no idea
what they are talking about — nor are they required to,
(which is why a few people want to doTheThing).
Ordinary mens brains direct them correctly to distinguish between words that other men utter which mean something
(references to tangibles things which physically exist),
and words which mean nothing, and are but references to
other words:
one is vocational; the other avocational;
the first, practical; the other, merely entertaining.
The part of the brain responsible for words & consciousness
enjoys problems — that is its bailiwick,
but when it is not engaged in trying to solve a real
(read: physical) problem,
it will be high jacked by the emotional part
and its attention turned to problems which to it,
must be put in quotation marks, in that whatever it is bothering
Limbic & Co. non pluses Cortex & Sons.
The hand that first writ the formula for determining the square measure of surfaces was not the same that put down the first mortal memoir.
The brain misses problem solving — which accounts for
some mens love of crosswords puzzles, (and of note):
likewise, some mens despite thereof:
some men’s brains are programmed more to real problem solving,
(always concerning something tangible),
while other mens are wired with a predisposition for
fumbling around with silly-putty, make-believe ones —
ones always centered around themselves — their apparent selves;
they seem to be forever involved in attempting to solve the problem of: Who am I?
Some men’s brains talk to themselves, asking:
What is the universe’s most basic building block?
while other mens private head conversation is centered around the question: What am I?!
All questions put into words are dependent on your memory of the past;
science moves forward only on this basis;
your understanding of yourself goes nowhere also on this basis.
To doTheThing & see what is going on in life
you must be able to use thought without its total reliance on
your mental memories of your past;
the goober-gaff is that mere thinking about TheThing keeps you from doing it, but without thinking about it — it cannot be done.
Words such as these, about it can sound insane — but — what?! —
are you just now beginning to notice this innate characteristic of words?
Force the words passing through your head to move away from
ANY connection to the past & you will discover
a whole new world in which head symbols can operate,
and from this you can stumble your way into:
doin’TheThing.
