Two R Better Than One

In one City, the cornerstone
of their leading literary institution
held the inscription:
“When In Doubt – Be Ironic.”

One ole king
became so enraged at synonyms
that he banished his partner
from the kingdom.

On this one certain curious planet (I say “curious” just to exercise and keep current my literary license) the children have a sing-song they chant as they skip seriousness – I mean, skip rope.  It goes like this:
“The thin behind have this rhyme;
The avant garde run on lard,
while the weighty ahead
live in dread.”

There may be some hope for a man
who won’t listen to nobody.
(But you gotta take the word “nobody”
REAL serious.)

Two heads are better than one –
unless you’re shopping for a hat.
